Description: A Patrol Sector (Sector) is a designated area normally defined by geographic boundaries that are used to deploy law enforcement resources in an effective manner. Sectors also help to quickly orient both law enforcement and dispatchers spatially to events. Police officers can be assigned to individual or multiple sectors during their patrol shifts. Sectors are more permanent in nature and are one of the primary geographic areas used to analyze crime data and to identify trends in the crime data.
