Description: The Community Oriented Policing (COP) zones are areas within a patrol sector that the Salisbury Police Department designates for additional police presence. The goal of these zones is to increase public awareness and perception of law enforcement activity within the zone. These zones are established due to the nature of the area in question (e.g. tourist area, or elevated criminal activity over an extended period of time), and are intended to be fluid in nature in line with shifting crime patterns and shifting socioeconomic patterns. Within these zones, the SPD establishes a public presence through walking or bike patrols or through extra or extended vehicle patrols within the zones.
