Historic site or heritage site is an official location where pieces of political, military, cultural, or social history have been preserved due to their cultural heritage value. Historic sites are usually protected by law, and many have been recognized with the official national historic site status. A historic site may be any building, landscape, site or structure that is of local, regional, or national significance. Usually this also means the site must be at least 50 years or older.

The National Register of Historic Places recognizes districts, buildings, structures, objects, and sites for their significance in American history, archeology, architecture, engineering, or culture, and identifies them as worthy of preservation. The National Register is a program of the U. S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service, and is administered at the State level by the Maryland Historical Trust.

The National Register currently comprises over 1500 listings in Maryland, including some 200 historic districts. Listed properties span a wide variety of types and periods, ranging from prehistoric archeological sites to buildings of the recent past, and include rural landscapes, urban and suburban neighborhoods, bridges, sailing vessels, and more.

[ "City of Salisbury", "IS: GIS", "Historic", "History", "Historic Committee", "National Register of Historic Places", "NRHP", "Culture", "Tourism", "Community", "Land Use Planning", "Open Data", "Public"
Feature Service
ArcGIS", "ArcGIS Server", "Data", "Feature Access", "Feature Service", "providerSDS", "Service"
[ [ -75.6434162308915, 38.3330866879666 ], [ -75.5672468634351, 38.4121069057264 ]
E308
NAD_1983_StatePlane_Maryland_FIPS_1900
City of Salisbury, Department of Information Services: GIS Division
